Week 2
(Season 2)

MKC v RSI

MKC Team: Caldazar, Spiritos, REViLLA, kD.

Our second match of the season, and the second time that our opposition had problems connection-wise and with players. RSI started the match with only 3 players and of these, [RSI]BadAttitude had a disastrous connection (pinging anywhere from 200 to 3800+ !!). Indeed, after only 90 seconds of the first map, he had dropped, leaving Bart and CoNTRoLLeR to continue RSI's challenge.
BadAttitude did return a minute later, but there was no apparent improvement to his connection and sometime later he again dropped; in effect this left RSI with two players for the majority of the first map, The Pit of Agony.

Agony
Having played this map against a good OTH team last season and lost, MKC were in no mood to extend that streak this season and were 'geared-up' for this one. Although starting against only 3 players may seem like an advantage (yes, sometimes it is), this league has thrown a number of results in the face of 'numerical superiority': quite a number of matches have seen the 3-player team defeat the 4-player team, so it really can't (and shouldn't) be taken for granted that the 4-player team will automatically win.

An unusual First Blood this map: Spiritos found himself spawn beside the Redeemer ("I'll have that thankyouverymuch"), looked down, saw [RSI]Bart and fired off that big mutha! Running like Hell to get out of the resulting blast-wave, Spiritos was relieved to get the first frag and still be alive to tell the tale ;) - although he did manage to blow himself up 4 times with it later! (Personally speaking, I think some of the Redeemers I fired were destroyed by enemy fire..I didn't fire them into walls (honest!)....and after reviewing the 'video evidence', the Redeemer I 'fired' that fragged my teammate kD whilst he was on a Godlike spree was in fact caused by a sweaty finger sliding down the mouse button whilst I was trying to avoid incoming fire! yeah, that's my story and it's the same one I'll be telling the Board of Enquiry as well >;))  ).

oh my, this is going to make a mess

Ten minutes into the game, and it really couldn't be anymore one-sided, MKC with an 80-3 lead. RSI didn't have any hope with only 2 players but give them their due, [RSI]Bart and [RSI]CoNTRoLLeR continued to play on without any complaints - good sportsmanship which is always nice to see :)
kD
managed a Godlike killing spree which was unfortunately brought to an abrupt end when a Redeemer accidently fired by Spiritos (honest guv ;) ), took him and an RSI player out.

As can be expected under the circumstances, MKC won this map easily with a 149-16 scoreline reflecting heavily on the reduced strength of RSI's team.

Cybrosis][
With only 2 players on the server for RSI, under the league rules, the admin would have no choice but to award a default win to MKC (teams must have a minimum of 3 players to start a game). However, RSI managed to find [RSI]Skippy on IRC and so on this map, RSI started and finished with 3 players.

As seems to be the norm on Cybrosis][, the play was split between the two main areas of contention - the top-half with the Redeemer and Damage Amp, and the bottom-half with the armour, Flak Cannon and Shock Rifle. MKC took early control of the top half of the map with RSI probing the position for most of the first half of the game (MKC leading 51-23 at this point).

Unable to take the position for any significant length of time, RSI changed tack and began linking-up at the bottom-half of the map where they were relatively undisturbed...for a while.

so this is where you're hiding >;)

Whilst still maintaining a hold on the top-half of the map, MKC started to foray into the bottom-half seeking out the RSI players. Obviously, MKC, with a man advantage could adopt this tactic without too much concern of spreading themselves too thinly. Both teams change of tactics seemed to nullify each others as there was no significant change in the rate of frags come the end of the 20 minute battle: at the end, MKC had a 59 frag lead compared with a 28 frag lead at the halfway point.

MKC mounted 9 killing sprees amongst themselves (Spiritos & REViLLA with 3 each) with REViLLA also proving the most elusive player to frag - surviving for an average 1 minute 20 seconds before being 'discovered'. Also, unlike his 3 teammates, REViLLA didn't take any of the opportunities provided to frag any of his fellow MKC players during this map (s'alright Rev...kD made up for that...got 4 of us..and he complains about me and my Redeemers, eh? >;))  ).
