Week 1
(Season
2)

MKC v Morph

MKC Team: kD, Caldazar, Spiritos, REViLLA.

This match was a repeat of the fixture between these two teams in Division 3 last season - the same maps were to be played in the same order and 6 of the 8 players competing had played in the last match. Morph had won both maps the last time out (102-63 on Curse][ & 76-72 on Gothic) and so the scene was set: could MKC avenge their defeat or would Morph make it two wins out of two against MKC?

Curse][
Morph had problems even before this map started - they only had 3 players but decided to play on as their 4th was supposedly on the way (N'Trailz appeared for Morph 3 minutes later). One of the other Morph players, Souly, had a bad connection (pinging from 200-500 with 6-24% packet loss) and I can't imagine that he enjoyed trying to play under those conditions. MKC on the other hand seemed to have no (major) connection problems and kD had in fact just gone LPB, making half the MKC team fall into the LPB bracket (Spiritos being the other LPB).

Caldazar took First Blood, fragging Silenced (formerly known as Nukie) with the Flak Cannon. In fact, the Flak Cannon turned out to be the weapon of choice during this map as it accounted for about 40% of all frags (the Shock Rifle was second with about half that number).

Most of the action seemed to take place on the upper level and downstairs beside the lift to the Shield Belt ledge with players from both sides vying for control of the lift and the SR just off to the side. As a result of these areas being in close proximity to one another, there were quite a number of 2v1, 2v2, and 3v2 battles as opposed to the 1v1's usually seen (which ramps up the adrenalin/mayhem factor quite nicely if you ask me :)  ).

MKC took off flying in this one, initially with Caldazar and Spiritos leading the way, but then kD started to get used to his newlyfound "LPB'ness" and began a one-man demolition job of the opposition. Whereas no other player on either team managed a single Killing Spree, kD racked up five - well done that man :))

Halfway through the map, MKC had a 79-45 lead and never looked like relinquishing that - indeed at the end of the twenty minutes, MKC had increased the gap from 34 to 59 frags running out very comfortable winners.

With 2 points secured, could MKC make it a clean sweep or would Morph, now starting with 4 players, split the games?

Gothic
This is a bigger map than Curse][ and the areas that most clans regard as important are a bit more spread out, so the action wasn't as intense as the previous map (mind you, don't mention that to any of the players until after a game ;)   ).

Morph took the First Blood award this map, N'Trailz avenging the first map First Blood award by fragging Caldazar with, you guessed it, the Flak Cannon! (Again, the FC proved the most used weapon, with the SR and RL being 2nd and 3rd respectively). However, that was as good as it got initially for Morph. kD carried on from where he left off in the last map - 2 minutes into the game and he had more than Morph's total number of frags! N'Trailz and Silenced however dragged Morph back into this game and by halfway through, MKC only had about a 10 frag lead - a much closer scoreline that on the Curse][ map.

From then on though, despite keeping the score within tangible reach, Morph couldn't find the extra something they needed and MKC took this second map, with kD again, leading the way for MKC. The final score read 87-72 to MKC.

Some interesting points comparing this result to last season's match,
